Red Bull X-Fighters World Tour Dates 2010

All Roads Lead to Rome for FMX World Elite

After the most spectacular showdown in the history of Red Bull X-Fighters in London in 2009, the premier freestyle motocross series in the world returns in 2010 with new riders, new locations and plenty of new tricks. This year will once again see the crème-de-la-crème of the international FMX scene battle it out for the coveted title of Red Bull X-Fighters Champion.

Jostling for a place with old classics such as the traditional curtain raiser in Mexico City (MEX) and the legendary two-day event in the Spanish capital of Madrid (ESP) will be new and exciting locations for 2010. The second event of the six-stop Tour will take place in the shadow of the Pyramids and the world famous Sphinx in the city of Giza (EGY), where the dry heat and blazing sun will be sure to push the athletes to the limit. The next highlight follows just weeks later, as the Red Square and the Kremlin in the Russian capital of Moscow (RUS) host the world’s 12 best freestyle motocross athletes. Following Moscow, London’s (UK) legendary Battersea Power Station will be recharged once more to electrify the crowd and the riders, and finally, the Red Bull X-Fighters head to the Eternal City, Rome (ITA), to crown the Red Bull X-Fighters World Tour Champion.

Last year it was America’s Nate Adams who claimed the title in front of a sell-out crowd of 20,000 at London’s Battersea Power Station following a thrilling season full of twists and turns. This time around, “Mad Dog” Adams is back to try to defend his title and secure his place as one of the all-time greats of Red Bull X-Fighters. Among his most dangerous challengers will be multi-world record holder Robbie Maddison (AUS), who will be looking to finally secure victory in the overall standings after placing third and second, respectively, in 2008 and 2009.

In 2010, Red Bull X-Fighters is no longer an invitational. Instead of holding a seperate Ranking Session, which was planned to take place this February in Southern California, but had to be cancelled due to bad weather, qualifying will be done according to performance and the World Tour ranking. The top six riders will be pre-qualified. This means that Nate Adams (USA), Robbie Maddison (AUS), Eigo Sato (JPN), Mat Rebeaud (SUI), Dany Torres (ESP) and Levi Sherwood (NZL) are already seeded for the season opener in Mexico, based on their standings at the end of the 2009 season. Four spots will be battled out by six riders, who have been selected by the international Red Bull X-Fighters jury following an own application process which was started in autumn last year. 2 Wild Card riders will complete the starting list. “This method will guarantee a fair competition on the highest sportive level with only the very best riders competing at each single Tour stop,” explained Sports Director Tes Sewell.

LAVERTY COMES OUT ON TOP IN PORTIMAO

Eugene Laverty kicks off his 2010 World Supersport campaign in promising style as he tops the Portimao three-day test.

Last year’s World Supersport Championship runner-up Eugene Laverty reminded rivals he will be the man to beat this season after snatching the fastest time of the Portimao three-day test.

The Irishman had cut a relatively low profile over the course of the weekend thus far, but stepped up in the concluding session to set a time of 1min 45.104secs.

As well as being the fastest lap of the session, Laverty’s time was also the best of the weekend as a whole, the Parkalgar Honda man going a tenth faster than Kawasaki’s Joan Lascorz.

Eugene Said “This test was the perfect way to start the 2010 season. I finished the season with a victory and today I’m back in first position. The most postive thing for me to take from this test is the fact that I also was quickest in the one session that was completely wet. Last year we struggled a lot in the wet but now we are prepared for the rain when it comes! We will test at Phillip Island before the first race there so I’m looking forward to working on improving our setting further.”

Laverty’s team-mate Miguel Praia was also impressively fast around his home circuit in fourth, ahead of Katsuaki Fujiwara, whose best time from Friday was enough to see him end the test fifth overall.

First World Supersport Rcae is on the 28th Febuary in Australia at Phillip Island.

Steve Mini Update !

Hey what’s up everyone!

As we went into 2010 i was pretty excited about the year ahead. I'd just received an invite to the X Fighter qualifyer in LA, I’d signed a contract for the new Nitro Circus tour in Australia, I had a bunch of Crusty Demons shows booked and also had a over 30 days of show with the Yamaha Team in Australia. I was unable to commit to the full season of the IFMXF World Championship but fortunately they were happy to let me miss the first part of the year due to other commitments and then come on for the second half. So all up I had the biggest year ahead so far and i was ready to knuckle down and get into training.

One of the main places I practise at is Matt Schubrings home compound, which is hands down one of the best places in the world to ride. He has some big jumps at his place and is always building new things. His most recent addition to his course is a 100foot step up carved into the side of a hill. The up ramp is about 5 metres high and there wasn’t much room to land. Only a couple of the boys hit it and it looked sketchy.

I came in pretty confident but took the wrong line and got bucked over the bars and hit it way too fast. I bailed early in hope id land on top but instead i sailed straight over the lander fell about 12 metres onto my feet. I ended up with a dislocated ankle, compound fractured tibia and a shattered fibula.

It took 3 surgeries to get my leg all back together and now I’m in a cast for the next month and then i have a month or so of intense physiotherapy to get everything back to normal and ready for the Nitro Circus Tour.

The time off doesn't bother me too much but the worst part of it is missing out on the Australian summer. As i write this it's Australia Day and its 39 degrees and im stuck watching everyone surf and swim and have fun which really sucks but on a positive note it's making me eager to get healthy and do well this year.

Michael Laverty Signs For Relentless Suzuki

Relentless Suzuki by TAS Racing is pleased to announce its rider line-up for the 2010 British Superbike Championship after Team Manager Philip Neill secured the signatures of reigning British Superstock Champion Alastair Seeley and fellow Northern Ireland rider Michael Laverty earlier this week.

Laverty needs little introduction, having secured the 2007 British Supersport title in Relentless Suzuki colours before spearheading the team's maiden effort in the British Superbike Championship in 2008.

Seeley was something of a phenomenon during 2009, taking the British Superstock title with nine wins from nine starts on his GSX-R1000 Suzuki, before dipping his toe in the British Superbike pond as an end of season bonus.

Both men will ride factory supported Relentless Suzuki Superbike machines with iconic Suzuki numbers - Seeley will run number 34 and Laverty number 7 for the 2010 season - and team manager Philip Neill is confident of immediate success.

Philip Neill:

"Not many teams can boast the services of two British champions, which we have secured in Michael Laverty and Alastair Seeley. It's fair to say our plans for this season have taken a little longer than normal to finalise as we did our best to consider the requirements of our sponsors.

"With this in mind, 2010 carries increased expectations from TAS Racing and its riders, but I am more than confident, we have chosen the correct line up in order to meet these requirements.

"As a team we will enter our third term in British Superbike, and having already secured both the British Supersport and Superstock Championships, we are now ready to challenge the front running teams for the Superbike title. We fully believe the Relentless Suzuki GSX-R1000 is the correct tool for the job and with one year's development behind us already, we will hit the ground running when our testing programme begins in Spain during early March."

Neill also commented on his two new riders for the BSB series in 2010, stating: "Alastair was provisionally confirmed as part of our line up in November after delivering the 2009 British Superstock title, which in my eyes could not go unrewarded. His youthful enthusiasm belies his experience, and together with his calculated style of racing, I believe he will deliver success beyond everyone's expectation in his rookie Superbike season."

On Michael Laverty, Neill said: "Michael returns to TAS Racing after a year competing in AMA Superbike with considerable success. He will be charged with the task of spearheading our development programme, whilst challenging for a top-three championship position, in this all important year.

"I firmly believe Michael has not yet had the opportunity to deliver his full potential in British Superbike racing and together with my enthusiastic work force, I am happy to put my faith in Michael."

Both riders are eager to kick-start their 2010 season in the warmer climates during March and feel 2010 will be a successful year in Relentless Suzuki colours.

Michael Laverty:

"I'm really happy to be joining the Suzuki family again and returning to the Relentless Suzuki set-up. I believe the team's GSX-R1000 is capable of winning races this year, so it's up to me to deliver. I know what I'm coming into this year having ridden for Philip before, and I know the effort the whole team has put in, to step things up. After some pre-season testing I will be aiming for wins from the word go. I really think we'll turn a few heads this year."

Alastair Seeley:

"I'm obviously glad to have found out I'll be riding a Superbike, as that's what I set my heart on after getting a taste for it at Oulton Park last season. Having Michael as a team mate will be great as he brings a lot of Superbike experience with him and that can only be good for early season set-up. I'm just looking forward to getting started in Spain and gelling with the whole team again."

Don't Mess With Bikers .....

just got emailed this story put a smile on my face , not sure how true it is ! possible a urban myth ?


Johnstown, PA (GlossyNews) – Local and state police scoured the hills outside rural Johnstown, Pennsylvania, after reports of three animal rights activists going missing after attempting to protest the wearing of leather at a large motorcycle gang rally this weekend. Two others, previously reported missing, were discovered by fast food workers “duct taped inside several fast food restaurant dumpsters,” according to police officials.

“Something just went wrong,” said a still visibly shaken organizer of the protest. “Something just went horribly, horribly, wrong.”

The organizer said a group of concerned animal rights activist groups, “growing tired of throwing fake blood and shouting profanities at older women wearing leather or fur coats,” decided to protest the annual motorcycle club event “in a hope to show them our outrage at their wanton use of leather in their clothing and motor bike seats.” “In fact,” said the organizer, “motorcycle gangs are one of the biggest abusers of wearing leather, and we decided it was high time that we let them know that we disagree with them using it…ergo, they should stop.”

According to witnesses, protesters arrived at the event in a vintage 1960’s era Volkswagen van and began to pelt the gang members with balloons filled with red colored water, simulating blood, and shouting “you’re murderers” to passers by. This, evidently, is when the brouhaha began.

“They peed on me!!!” charged one activist. “They grabbed me, said I looked like I was French, started calling me ‘La Trene’, and duct taped me to a tree so they could pee on me all day!”




“I…I was trying to show my outrage at a man with a heavy leather jacket, and he…he didn’t even care. I called him a murderer, and all he said was, ‘You can’t prove that.’ Next thing I know he forced me to ride on the back of his motorcycle all day, and would not let me off, because his girl friend was out of town and I was almost a woman.”

Still others claimed they were forced to eat hamburgers and hot dogs under duress. Those who resisted were allegedly held down while several bikers “farted on their heads.”

Police officials declined comments on any leads or arrests due to the ongoing nature of the investigation, however, organizers for the motorcycle club rally expressed “surprise” at the allegations.

“That’s preposterous,” said one high-ranking member of the biker organizing committee. “We were having a party, and these people showed up and were very rude to us. They threw things at us, called us names, and tried to ruin the entire event. So, what did we do? We invited them to the party! What could be more friendly than that? You know, just because we are all members of motorcycle clubs does not mean we do not care about inclusiveness. Personally, I think it shows a lack of character for them to be saying such nasty things about us after we bent over backwards to make them feel welcome.”

When confronted with the allegations of force-feeding the activists meat, using them as ad hoc latrines, leaving them incapacitated in fast food restaurant dumpsters, and ‘farting on their heads,’ the organizer declined to comment in detail. “That’s just our secret handshake,” assured the organizer.”
