Josh Green Secures Shift's First World Enduro Win

Electraction TM team rider Josh Green has claimed his first ever Enduro World Championship victory, topping the competitive Enduro Junior class on the second day of the GP of Greece. Returning to the EWC competition having spent little time on a bike prior to the event as a result of a knee injury picked up at the fourth round of the series in Poland, Josh made a steady start to day one but ended the event in the best possible way, by claiming his maiden EWC victory.

The opening day’s competition was for many the hardest of the series so far. With temperatures soaring above 40 degrees Celsius the dry, dusty terrain quickly became rough and rutted. For Josh the Friday night Super Test didn’t go as planned as a small mistake resulted in him placing 18th in class. During the opening lap on day one Josh set about re-familiarising himself with the demands of world championship competition. Steadily improving his pace throughout the second and third laps Josh ended the day as one of the fastest riders in the EJ class but due to his opening lap performances could only manage fifth in the overall results, just 52 seconds behind class winner Lorenzo Santolino from Spain.

Day two proved to be very different for Josh. Fourth fastest around the opening extreme test he then topped the second extreme test to take an early class lead. Remaining both consistent and fast, and dealing well with the constant pressure piled on him by regular EJ class front-runners Jeremy Jolly and Lorenzo Santolino during the middle of the day, Josh remained out front. With a few mistakes creeping into his riding during the third and final lap Josh nevertheless managed to maintain his lead eventually claiming a well-deserved win, three seconds ahead of eventual runner-up Antti Hellsten from Finland.

Josh provisionally sits in sixth position in the Enduro Junior World Championship standings. Round seven of the EWC series takes place next weekend in Turkey.

Josh Green: ‘I’m really pleased that I’ve claimed my first world championship win. To be honest that was my goal before the start of the race, or to at least get on the podium. I’ve had some good speed during some of the earlier rounds of the series but now I know I have to start turning that into results. The event didn’t start too well as I had a spin on the Friday night test, which cost me a little bit of time. I then made a slow start to the first full day. I finished strong but the time I lost on the first lap really cost me and I finished fifth. I took a look at the tests at the end of the first day and worked on some better lines and then just started as strong as I could on day two. I was running up front right from the start of the day and although I made a few mistakes towards the end of the day I kept it together. I’m going to keep pushing hard now and see if I can get a few more wins before the end of the series.’

Inside FreestyleXtreme!

Over the past couple of months things have been really quite busy at FSX HQ in Bristol, and we thought we would give you a bit of an insight into what's going on!

Some of the best bit's of news we have got, is the introduction of some new brands. We've brought you all of the best Motocross brands, and now we are increaing our range of extreme sports brands. Some of the brands we've brought in include Volcom, Santa Cruz, Lucky 13 and So Cal.

As we are now well into the end of the summer, the new fall ranges are filling up our warehouse on a daily basis, which could explain why our warehouse seems to be shrinking by the day... Last week we receieved the all new DC fall range, which is full of some of the best clothing and shoes we've seen from DC. Not only did it have the Travis Pastrana clothing range, and TP Shoe, (Also note this is our 199th blog post!) but also the Ken Block Shoes and the Ken Block Monster WRC Team cap. The cap will be coming online soon, we're not supposed to have released this picture yet, but hope you will keep quiet!



We've also just had loads of new Alpinestars clothing in, all of which is now online. Alpinestars are always producing some sweet gear, and some of the new Tee's are awesome, and really stand out!

Some of the other new ranges which have come in, include Osiris, Vans and Oakley, again all of which is online. If there are any new brands you would like to see then by all means drop us an email, and we will see what we can do!

Cairoli brings the Championship home!

Regular readers of our blog will have seen us talking about the MX1 and MX2 championships in Brazil last weekend, and after a weekend of racing Antonio Cairoli has won the MX1 championship on the all new KTM 350!

Red Bull KTM Factory Racing MX1’s Cairoli made the most of the first ever Grand Prix of Brazil held in Campo Grande, and after an eventful day he took the overall win, and the championship. In Moto 1 Cairoli recovered form a bad start to take an eventual second place, and mid way through Moto 2 it looked like we would be waiting until the next round for the championship to be decided. Cairoli fell, and was pushed back to fourth place with Desalle (Second in the championship) leading the race. After a fight back to second, the result looked set until Desalle stopped with mechanical issues handing the pint sized Italian the overall GP and the title. This marked the Italians fourth World Title, his first in MX1 and KTM's first World Championship win since 1985.

In MX2 Suzuki's Ken Roczen took the overall win, winning both moto's and closing in 6 points on current championship leader Marvin Musquin, who still looks set to clinch the title at the next round, he is 72 points ahead with 100 available. Completing the podium was Kawasaki's Jeremy van Horebeek, who visited the podium for the first time.

Championships to be won and lost in Brazil

This weekend marks the 13th round of the MX1 and MX2 World Motocross Championship, at Campo Grande in Brazil. It will be the first time the series have visited the track, the newly rebuilt circuit will provide a fresh challenge for the riders.

In MX1 Toni Cairollo is looking set to take the title, the first time KTM will have won the MX1 Championship since Heinz Kinigadner (Whom now has a stake in the company) back in 1985, and would do so on the revolutionary KTM 350. Cairolli is now just over 80 points ahead with 150 up for grabs over the three round. Second place is currently filled by Clemet Desalle, freshly back from his successful trip over to the USA for the Nationals, Desalle will need to win to be in with a chance of the 2010 title. In third place, with a slim mathematical chance of taking the title, is David Philippaerts, who will need to win all three of the remaining rounds and hope that the two ahead of him don't!

Looking at MX2, KTM are again on top of the pile, with Marvin Musquin now 78 points ahead of second placed Ken Roczen. Again if Roczen is to take the title, he would need Musquin to encouter a lot of bad luck and some DNF's, but as we all know in this sport nothing is ever out of the question! Third place is currently filled by Kawasaki's Steven Frossard, who has only taken one win in 2010, he will be looking to end the seaon on a high and could play a big part in the overall championship standings.

Sherwood wins in London!

We have just got back from a weekend at the X Fighters in London, and wow what a weekend!

New Zealand’s Levi Sherwood recharged London’s iconic Battersea Power Station on Saturday, taking the win at the fifth round of the World Tour. Levi was on fire all evening, and definitely lived up to his reputation as “rubber kid”, pulling an awesome backflip heart attack, which no one thought he would land!
Rain had been falling on and off in the afternoon, with several torrential showers (Yes we got soaked…), and it was only a question of time before the course began to cut up, leading to slippery run-ins and increasingly soft landings. “We couldn’t go right to the limit in the evening – it was too dangerous,” explained America’s Nate Adams, who took a strong second place. As all riders had benefited from the same conditions on the dry course during Qualifying in the afternoon, it was decided that the result of that session should stand as the final result.

Despite the wet conditions, Battersea Power Station was sold out right down to the very last seat for an evening of spectacular FMX action. “The fans certainly fired up the old coal power station,” grinned third-placed Dany Torres (ESP). Crowd favourite Robbie Maddison, famous for his jump over London’s iconic Tower Bridge in 2009, could only finish in tenth place after falling hard during Qualifying, and not competing in the main event.

In the overall standings Nate Adams (305 points) and Levi Sherwood (290 points) are closing in on current tour leader Andre Villa, who did not take part in the main event.

Red Bull X Fighters is about to visit London!

For the second time in it's history the Red Bull X Fighters will be visiting London, and the Battersea Power Station. So far in 2010, Andre Villa from Norway is leading the tour, with the Australia's Robbie Maddison just under 50 points adrift in second place, and Nate Adams sitting in third.

Cairoli Wins in Czech GP - FIM World Championship

After a horrendous qualifying session on Saturday where the heavens opened, the sun came out for race day at the Czech Republic GP.

MX1
Red Bull KTM Factory Racing’s Cairoli extended his winning streak to three consecutive wins – making it a total of six for the year. In moto 1, the win went to a hard charging Tanel Leok, but Cairolo made up for it in the second moto, taking the holeshot and leading to the flag. This means he is now 84 points ahead in the race for the championship with just three rounds left, meaning it will be very difficult for anyone to beat the Italian KTM rider now! Second place went to the Rockstar Teka Suzuki rider, Clement Desalle, who struggled for pace in the first moto, but ended the weekend with a second and a third, giving him second overall. LS Motors Honda’s Tanel Leok took third place on the podium, which could have been higher had he not crashed and finished fifth in the second moto.

MX2

Red Bull KTM Marvin Musquin broke his bad luck streak at Loket, by taking the win in the MX2 class after a very close battle with Ken Roczen. In moto one Roczen took the win, after Musquin was involved in an incident he was unable to catch him. Moto 2 was a different story, with the pair fighting for the win, when Roczen crashed whilst leading, handing the moto win and overal GP victory to Musquin. Marvin now leads the championship by 78 points, meaning it looks like KTM will take both titles barring a disaster!

Third place on the podium was occupied by Monster Energy Yamaha's Gautier Paulin, who recovered from a bad start in moto one, he then took third in moto two to give him third overall.

X Games 16 - Best Trick, Gold for Sinclair!

Anticipation for X Games 16 had been building up for months; was Cam Sinclair going to attempt a double backflip? Was Pastrana going to try the TP720? Could Paris Rosen land the frontflip in competition? In the end only one of those riders completed the trick, Cam Sinclair came back from near fatal injuries to stomp a double backflip and win the Gold for him and the Metal Mulisha team!

Cam came out and stomped the double backflip, the same trick that almost ended his riding career a year ago at the Red Bull X Fighters in Spain. The gold in itself was sweet enough for Cam, but to add to that the way he overcame his accident a year ago meant it was a real achievement. Second place went to the Australian, Red Bull's Robbie Maddison, and third to Taka Higashino. The biggest crash of the day went to Paris Rosen, who went for a front flip, but did not look close from the take off, and had a hard landing. The good news is he is recovering as we speak.
