After scooping the full million dollars from last year's Monster Energy Cup, great things were expected from Ryan Villopoto during the 2012 event.
Even despite this being the first race he has taken part in since his recovery from his ACL injury, RV2 got off to a great start - winning the Moto 1 race.
Okay, so an accident in the second race meant he sat things out for the rest of the event but, when he was on the bike, he really was flying. Take a look at his GoPro helmet cam footage from Villopoto's race!
After a series of consistent performances, Tanner Foust was awarded his second consecutive GRC championship in Las Vegas yesterday.
Safe to say that this year's GRC has had it's fair share of low points: poorly designed, primarily tarmac courses, unsafe jump sections, numerous injuries, X games rule change fiascoes and more.
However, the final round at the Las Vegas Convention Centre showed the potential of what the GRC can be when it does things properly: a proper dirt and tarmac circuit, dirt jumps and Tuff block markings rather than those car-destroying water barriers.
Not that Ken Block will be particularly happy about how his evening went. He was leading the race for the best part of six laps until his car threatened to catch fire, which forced a complete race restart.
This was something that Foust and Deegan took full advantage of. As the only man able to challenge Foust for the title, Deegan put on a do-or-die performance in an attempt to catch race leader Foust. However, Deegan's wild driving wasn't quite enough to match Foust's technically superior style.
So, what remains to be seen is whether that time piggybacking the audience from NASCAR races will pay off for future championship. Will enough people turn up and tune it to watch another? With the right support from fans, GRC could be something special. So - guess it's all up to us now...

Without a massive marketing machine behind it, or some of the high profile FMX riders from the US competing, the Night of the Jumps FMX competition doesn't get half the attention that it deserves.
With riders from all over Europe and a strong showing from Russia and Czechoslovaki, Night of the Jumps more than proved that freestyle talent extends far beyond what we see at X Fighters.
Although Frenchman Remi Bizouard has been duking it out with Czech Libor Podmol for place at the top during the first three round, the fourth event in Riga, Latvia belonged to Javier Villegas from Chile.

This footage, taken at the Red Bull Descenso del Condor event in La Paz, Bolivia, is one of the maddest pieces of downhill filming we have since since the Rampage a few weeks ago. Still, while the natural terrain of Utah came with its own very real dangers, this part mountainside, part staircase course winding its way through the Bolivian Favelas and alleways adds its own new and terrifying range of buttock-clenching moments.
Makes you wonder why they bother to put protective foam around a few lamp posts when there are clearly 100 foot drops either side most of the time...
We already knew that Travis had a terrible time at this year's X Games but this episode of On Pace With Pastrana certainly doesn't paint the X Games organisational team in a great light. We can't imagine anything more frustrating than being dumped out of a heat race owing to the poor driving of someone else and then uncomprehensible rule changes prevent him (who is pretty much the poster boy for X Games) from being able to take part in the final.

The last time we saw anything from Hot Wheels, we witnessed Tanner Foust and Greg Tracy perform the Double Loop Dare at this year's X Games.
However, the toy company hasn't ceased its mission to recreate some of the stunts that we used to attempt with model cars in real life. Such as this - the corkscrew jump.
Unlike the Double Loop Dare - which was performed live - we're always slightly dubious about these performances. We're not saying that the corkscrew jump wasn't performed (after all, stuntmen nailed the exact same stunt back in 1974 during the James Bond film The Man With The Golden Gun), it's just that these Hot Wheels videos like to add a bit too much Hollywood.
Not that the Hot Wheels people seem that fussed - it's just a bit of fun. Demonstrated pretty aptly in the video below, when suddenly they need racing legend Mario Andretti in a jet-powered El Camino to help the car get up to speed...

The Red Bull Sea to Sky Enduro race sees 136 riders from 20 countries head to Turkey for an epic race from Kemer beach to the Olympus mountains, starting at sea level up to a height of 2365m. No other Enduro race on the calendar combines sandy beaches with forest and alpine stages and the unique challenges that riders face mean that less than 30% of the competitors who start will make it to the end.
So, it pleases the UK contingent of FreestyleXtreme to announce that, of those 30%, all three of the podium places were taken up by British riders! First place was clinched by Flite-Husaberg rider Graham Jarvis (his second consecutive victory), with KTM riders Jonny Walker and Paul Bolton finishing 2nd and 3rd.

This weekend saw some first class action from the Monster Energy Cup at the Sam Boyd Stadium in Las Vegas. With the potential for a million dollar prize on the line, it attracted the biggest names in MX, prepared to tackle the devious course designed with input from Ricky Carmichael.
Normally they say what happens in Vegas stays in Vegas but here's the lowdown from the 2012 Monster Energy Cup...
If you had some money down on Ryan Villopoto repeating his $1million victory from the 2011 Monster Energy Cup, the first race from this year's event might have originally led to believe you were in for an impressive payout of your own.
Even though Villopoto was first across the line in Event 1 and he nabbed the holeshot in Event 2, things went rapidly downhil. A crash on the second lap mean he finished a disappointing 12th and the accident was consequently punishing enough for RV to choose to sit the third race out. No big bucks for RV2 tonight...
Still, Villopoto's misfortune left plenty of other to step up to the plate and standing above the likes of Dungey, Chad Reed and Mike Alessi was Muscle Milk Honda rider Justin Barcia, who, having not yet even raced a season on a 450, emerged as the overall Monster Energy Cup winner.
With a 2-1-2 finish, Barcia might have picked up a less impressive $100k rather than the full million but such an impressive performance against the biggest names in the MX business certainly spells excitement for the 2013 Supercross season!
For a rider who has had to sit out the last eight months with injury, Chad Reed's 5-6-4 finishes are still quite impressive, although, having not been racing and with his own race team to finance, we bet he'll be disappointed not to have finished stronger.
Wondered what happened to Dungey? Although a 3-2-3 finish is hardly to be sniffed at, problems with his bike shifter prevented him from performing better.

I'm pleased to say that this video confirms everything I imagined about what happens when the Metal Mulisha guys hang out. They all head to Jimmy Fitzpatrick's place, build some massive 180ft jumps on his 54 acres of land, do some tricks and then go and shoot some guns. Although, there was a conspicuous absence of big booty ho's.

If there is one thing that Ken Block is very good at, it's tyre slaying. At the Formula D track at Irwindale, he did just that. Oh, and he murdered a couple of wheels too. Yep, that's what those things are/were at the start of the vid.

Freddy Wong is a very talented young director who has made a string of great movies based on videogames and action film cliches with a ton of impressive special effects. The latest addition is this miniaturised car chase scene filmed exclusively with R/C cars and features almost every convention you'll find on the big screen. Oh, and keep an eye out for a brief cameo from DC Shoes' Rob Dyrdek and his Fantasy Factory buddy, Big Black.
All the time that Red Bull keep releasing these awesome video edits of the 2012 Rampage, we're prbobably still gonna post them. This particular footage offers a tasty, bitesized recap of the event which saw Canadian Kurt Sorge emerge victorious, in amongst some impressive crashes and awe-inspiring bravery.
For us, X Games seemed like eons ago, so dragging out his unceremonious exit from the Los Angeles round of the the Global Rallycross (a rear end shunt in the first corner of the first heat race) hasn't got any less painful to watch. Particularly after seeing Mrs and Mrs Pastrana looking so happy on the run up to the events and after his little go kart showdown with Sebastien Loeb.
Still, when you exist in a world where Dodge call you up and say "Hey man, want a Charger SRT-8 to just muck about in for a week?" not everything is so bad...
Last night, GoPro announced the latest addition to its range of portable action cameras: The GoPro Hero3. While retaining the familiar look of the previous cameras, the Hero3 is smaller, more portable and even more powerful than ever.
First thing you may not notice from the picture is that the Hero3 is roughly half the size of its predecessors and weights in at just 2.6 ounces, while still being able to deliver the same impressive specs. Wearable and easily mounted onto gear, the Hero3 is waterproof to 60m (inside the waterproof case) and can capture 1080p (30 frames per second), 720p (60fps) video and take 5 megapixel photos at a rate of 3 per second. The top-of-the-range edition can even capture 4k UHD at 16fps. Not bad for something the size of a box of matches.
Another new feature is the addition of built-in Wi-Fi Technology. With the (separate) Wi-Fi remote or with the GoPro smartphone app, you can control up to 50 cameras from up to 600 feet away.
As you'd hope, there has also been refinements to the lens (which promises reduced distortion and sharper images) and an enhanced mic that further reduces wind noise.
The GoPro is available in three packages: the entry-level, $199 White Edition (which comes with a waterproof case and a couple of mounting plates), the $299 Silver Edition (which adds in a three-way pivot arm) and the $399 Black Edition, which adds a three-way pivot arm and the Wi-Fi remote and, more importantly, the ability to capture ultra high-def 4k video at 16fps. Prices for the UK have not been revealed for all models but the Silver Edition should cost £279.
Although the Hero3 is a different size, and will therefore require new skeleton houses, the Hero3 will will be compatible with all older generation mounting options, Touch BacPacs and 2nd gen Battery BacPacs
GoPro are accepting pre-orders for the Silver Edition from the end of October (depending on where in the world you live). We'll let you know as soon as they are up on the FreestyleXtreme site!
There's something about GoPro footage taken when strapped to the helmets of downhill MTB guys that we find hard to resist. Perhaps it's because it gives you such a realistic feeling of actually being on the bike. Maybe it's because it allows us to feel at least a fraction of the adrenaline - without having to put our own limbs on the line. Maybe its just because these guys are bonkers and it's great to see the madness.
As ever, mega respect for these guys, who seem to just laugh whenever they have an accident that doesn't leave them with broken bones. Hardcore.

In the grand scheme of things, FMX is still a relatively new sport and can be traced back to 1994 with Jon Freeman, Dana Nicholson and the pioneering Crusty Demons of Dirt franchise. From there, the documentary plans to chart the highs and lows of FMX - from its introduction into the X Games and deviant punk youth to its influential place in today's youth pop culture.
Scheduled to come out next summer for X Games Los Angeles in August, this film should change how people look at FMX forever. We'll give you more details as soon as we know them!
There's nothing quite like a dude leaping from space to shift the limelight away from you. But that hasn't stopped Travis Pastrana from getting up to his old tricks.
Earlier in the month, Travis was hosting at the Plymouth Nitrocross event and felt that the ramp set-up was the perfect place to attempt a move he is calling the 'American Roll'.
Inspired by Australian BMX rider Ash Murphy and his attempt at the 'Aussie Roll', Pastrana very nearly nails the double backflip with a full twist.
When asked by redbullusa.com about the jump Pastrana answered, like a boss: "The timing couldn't have been better, since I had shoulder surgery scheduled for tomorrow anyway."
Not sure about it can fix your busted 'nad though, Travis...
If you were one of many million viewers who watched the live YouTube stream on Sunday 14th October, then you would have already witnessed history in the making as Austrian daredevil Felix Baumgartner successfully landed his jump from the stratospshere, at a height of 39,044 meters (128,097 feet, or 23 miles) in the Red Bull Stratos project.
After five years of training and several frustrating delays to the launch, Baumgartner more than earned his position in the record books by becoming the first man to break the sound barrier with his own body, hitting a recorded maximum speed of 706mph (that's 1,137 km/h or mach 1.24) during his 4 minute 19 second freefall. He also picked up the record for the highest freefall and the highest manned balloon flight. Owing to when Felix opened his parachute (at height still above where most other skydivers even leave the plane), the record of longest freefall remained with Baumgartner's mentor, Col. Joe Kittinger, who jumped from a height of 102,800 feet back in 1960.
Perhaps the scariest moment for viewers (and no doubt Felix!) was when he entered a terrifying spin on his approach to earth. Baumgartner reflected on the experience once he safely landed back on the ground Roswell, New Mexico:
"It was an incredible up and down today, just like it's been with the whole project," a relieved Baumgartner said. "First we got off with a beautiful launch and then we had a bit of drama with a power supply issue to my visor. The exit was perfect but then I started spinning slowly. I thought I'd just spin a few times and that would be that, but then I started to speed up. It was really brutal at times. I thought for a few seconds that I'd lose consciousness. I didn't feel a sonic boom because I was so busy just trying to stabilise myself. We'll have to wait and see if we really broke the sound barrier. It was really a lot harder than I thought it was going to be, " says Baumgartner.

Receiving a broken collarbone prior to the Daytona Supercross race may have scuppered Dungey's chances of challenging Villopoto for the 2012 Supercross Championships but he more than made up for the disappointment during the Lucas Oil Pro 450 Motocross Championship, where The Dunge absolutely smashed it, picking up ten consecutive wins in a row and landing the first ever Lucas Oil Pro Motocross title for KTM. In most cases the word 'office' and 'excitement' don't normally go together. That's not the case for the recently opened DC Shoes Showroom in Newquay, UK.
For the majority of office workers, the only thing that gets the blood pumping is when the instant coffee is close to running out or the elevator to Accounts Payable has broken down and you have to run up three flights of stairs. The DC Shoes office, on the other hand, has a fully skate-able bowl in the middle of it!
Combining work and play, while returning the brand to its roots, the 150m2 space was revealed at the end of September and it wasn't long before some of DC's sponsored skate athletes descended on the building to test it out.
We also went to take a look at it ourselves earlier in the week to check out DC's Summer 13 range and believe us when we say it looks like a pretty sweet place to work. All we need to do now is convince them to build a Motocross track out the back and they'll never be able to get rid of us!
